By Road 

For travelers coming from South Africa, Barra is approximately 1,000 km from Johannesburg, making for a 12–14 hour drive. The most common route takes you through:

  • The Lebombo Border Post (Komatipoort/Ressano Garcia) into Mozambique.
  • Follow the EN1 highway north past Xai-Xai and Maxixe towards Inhambane.
  • From Inhambane, it’s a 30-minute drive to Barra along well-maintained roads.

💡 Tip: A 4×4 is recommended for the final stretch, especially during the rainy season.

By Air

The nearest airport is Inhambane Airport (INH), which receives domestic flights from Maputo. From the airport, you can take a private transfer or rent a 4×4 vehicle from Movas Services for a short drive to Barra. For international travelers, flights into Maputo International Airport (MPM) connect easily to Inhambane, making BellaVida a convenient tropical getaway.
